“Go West, young man”

sqrrl Team Completes West Coast Tour of Leading Companies

Last week sqrrl co-founders, Adam Fuchs (CTO) and Ely Kahn (COO), traveled to San Francisco and Silicon Valley to meet with a variety of the world’s leading consumer internet companies, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin.

The goal of the trip was to provide these companies with a deep dive on Apache Accumulo and sqrrl’s upcoming software product, acorn, which is an enterprise grade version of Accumulo.

The sqrrl team was met with enthusiasm over a number of Accumulo’s key features that differentiate it from other non-relational databases.

In particular, engineers from a variety of firms commented that Accumulo’s cell-level security features fill an important gap within the Hadoop ecosystem. Others commented on the Accumulo’s impressive scalability and performance benchmarks and real-time analytical capabilities.

Adam also gave an Accumulo presentation to a packed audience of over 300 engineers at the Bay Area Hadoop Users Group at Yahoo Headquarters. Video of Adam’s presentation can be found here and his slides can be viewed here.
